This year is an important milestone for ProTrans International – 2018 marks our 25th year as a leader in the logistics industry. Over the past 25 years, ProTrans has stayed a steady presence in the industry and has found its niche in the 3PL and Consolidation market. To help celebrate this year we are celebrating 25 people who have dedicated years of service to help shape ProTrans into the organization that we know today.
Our featured profile today is of Barb Carothers, RFP Manager/Corporate Writer here at Corporate –  Indianapolis, IN.  

What position(s) have you held since working with ProTrans?
Just one (1) RFP Manager / Corporate Writer for 5 years

What is one interesting fact about ProTrans when you started?
I didn’t have to fight for a parking spot.

What was the last thing you heard or saw which made you laugh out loud?
When our dog, Kate showed up with half a squirrel tail in her mouth … later I saw a squirrel in our yard with a short tail!

What hobbies do you enjoy?
Going to artsy movies w/my significant other, Andrew.

Cats or dogs? Or other pets?
Paisley, 80lbs, Great Dane Pointer mix and Kate, 45 lbs, Labradoodle

What excites you so much that it keeps you awake the night before?
Vacation

What is the one thing you have waited in line the longest for?
To see the original Star Wars movie.

Since starting with ProTrans, what is the biggest change you have seen/experienced with the company?
The inception of ProTrans Holdings in 2017.

What way has the industry changed since you started with ProTrans?
Big data and technology

What industry trends do you see emerging in the upcoming years?
The use of drones.

What is the 1 thing in this world you are most proud of?
Well I can’t keep it to just one thing. I am proud of my children, 24 & 27; they have launched their careers and live on their own. I am proud of my previous careers in architecture/design and teaching both pre-school and college plus earning my LEED AP (Leadership in Energy & Environmental Design, Accredited Professional and earning my master’s degree.

What are you passionate about?
Animal rescue. There is no need to buy any breed of dog there are plenty in rescue. I’ve had three dogs from rescue. I also really like the ICAN organization (Indiana Canine Assistant Network). More than 150 service dogs have been trained by prisoners and community volunteers then placed with children and adults that have a disability. Today, ICAN has approximately 45 dogs in training at three correctional facilities, a team of six full-time employees, and more than 100 volunteers.

If you could take a paid year off, what would you do with the time?
Something that contributes to the community like work with a non-profit or volunteer.

What’s the most incredible view you’ve ever seen?
The views at Mammoth Mountain, CA where I learned to ski.

At which store would you like to max-out your credit card?
I am not a “shopper” but I am designing a new kitchen which is going to max out more than a credit card.

If you could splurge on one must have item, what would it be?
A vacation.

What was the best concert you ever attended?
The Eagles twice. Joe Walsh is one of the all-time best guitarists ever.

What is your favorite sport? Team? And Sport’s moment in history?
I love football unfortunately this is not a good year for the Colts so I have to look at the Saints and the Cowboys (there is a southern theme here). Roger Staubach was amazing – I can name most of the players during his time with the Cowboys.
