25th Anniversary Employee Profile - Maria Martinez

    This year is an important milestone for ProTrans International – 2018 marks our 25th year as a leader in the logistics industry. Over the past 25 years, ProTrans has stayed a steady presence in the industry and has found its niche in the 3PL and Consolidation market. To help celebrate this year we are celebrating 25 people who have dedicated years of service to help shape ProTrans into the organization that we know today.

    Our featured profile today is of Maria Martinez, Human Resources Manager for Mexico. Mrs. Martinez has been with ProTrans for 16 years.

    What position(s) have you held since working with ProTrans?

    I started as Administrative Assistant in 2002, after that Human Resources Coordinator in 2008. In that same year, I was promoted to HR Supervisor and since 2011 I have been the Human Resources Manager for Mexico.

    What is one interesting fact about ProTrans when you started? 
    There were only 10 ProTrans employees in all Mexico now currently we are up to 299 employees in Mexico!  

    What was the “hip” trend when you started working at ProTrans?
    The use of Scanners and Nextel radios where the latest technology available.

    What was the last thing you heard or saw which made you laugh out loud?
    Halloween 2017 ProTrans Monterrey Office, Nestor Gomez dressed as Shrek, Jorge Castro dressed as Bear and the Engineering team and Analysis dressed up as Eugenio Derbez’s different characters (Mexican actor).

    What hobbies do you enjoy?

    I enjoy taking walks in the park with my daughter.

    Cats or dogs? Or other pets?

    I am a dog person; my dog’s name is Rayito.

    What is the one thing you have waited the longest for?
    To get to my professional goal, it is worth the long wait.

    Since starting with ProTrans, what is the biggest change you have seen/experienced with the company?
    The increase in the number of workers, the solid structure of the company, and the technological advances that we work with every day.

    What way has the industry changed since you started with ProTrans?

    There is a lot of competition and that has motivated ProTrans to invest in personnel and technology to stay in the top service levels in the industry over the years.  

    What industry trends do you see emerging in the upcoming years?
    The most advanced technology to give the best service possible.

    What is the one thing in this world you are most proud of?

    I am proud of where I come from, to have been able to succeed despite of everything.  It was a long process that I was able to achieve with hard work, responsibility, and dedication.  

    What are you passionate about?
    The confidence and the interaction that I have daily with my coworkers.

    If you could take a paid year off, what would you do with the time?
    I would rest of course!  I would also take some courses for administration for Human Resources.

    What’s the most incredible view you’ve ever seen?
    Personally, the first time that I saw my daughter’s face.
    Workwise during these 16 years that I have worked for ProTrans, I think the company has a spectacular business idea.  We are always looking for excellence and better quality in the services that we provide. There have been times where we have fallen but each time that we get back on track we are stronger than before!  

    At which store would you like to max-out your credit card?
    Best Buy!  

    If you could splurge on one must have item, what would it be?
    A laptop and a smartwatch.  

    What was the best concert you ever attended?
    Juan Gabriel, it was amazing I really enjoyed it. I laughed and I cried.  

    What is your favorite sport? Team? And Sport’s moment in history?

    Football is my favorite sport. The Colts and Payton Manning Super Bowl XLI!

    What has compelled you to stay with ProTrans for as long as you have?

    The opportunity that ProTrans has to offer to evolve skills paths at all levels.
